Dilithium Applauds the ITU Standardisation of H.324 Annex K
(Call Session Set up Acceleration)

Petaluma, CA. – August 22, 2006 – Dilithium, the leading supplier of 3G multimedia solutions, praised the efforts of the ITU-T to standardize technologies to accelerate 3G Videotelephony call setup time in the new Annex K of Recommendation H.324.

Annex K, also known as Media Oriented Negotiation Acceleration (MONA), is the result of over 18 months of industry discussions and collaboration to achieve a standardized call session acceleration technique. The ITU-T, 3GPP and IMTC were integral in shaping the resulting solution. Dilithium is a co-editor of Annex K, the other co-editor is PacketVideo.

Long session setup times are recognized as one of the limiting factors for consumer acceptance of video telephony services. Annex K of H.324 contains a range of techniques to substantially improve session setup times, reducing call setup negotiation time to the equivalent of a voice call.
