VTM, Belgium Launches Video Dial-in Service to
Big Brother
Live Cams
Petaluma, California – August 6, 2007 – Dilithium, announced today that Paratel, the wholly-owned ASP of VTM
(the number one Flemish TV channel in Belgium) has selected
the DTG 2000® multimedia gateway with VT-Stream
feature for delivery of enhanced video services across
mobile and IP networks. The 3G video solution from
Dilithium and leading system integrator Quentris, enables
video access to the existing voice services of Paratel. The
first major deployment allows VTM viewers to access the Big
Brother TV show via video calls to live cameras in the
apartment.
Quentris is the first system integrator implementing
Dilithium Networks’ video streaming technology in Benelux.
The integration of video streaming in Paratel’s
communication infrastructure creates new business
opportunities. Dilithium’s technology provides fast session
set-up times and superior video quality which is an integral
part of this deployment. Mobile
customers can simply dial into a menu screen and press a
number to select different cameras in the Big Brother house,
bringing live video footage direct to their mobile phones.
“We are using the most recent telecom technologies, making
the necessary changes and integration according to the needs
of the customer. Example technologies are Speech
Recognition, Text-to-Speech, online multimedia applications
and mobile applications.” according to Peter Edel, Advanced
Technology Manager for Quentris. “The customers can be
radio- or TV-stations as well as companies who are committed
to offer their subscribers high quality video service in
order to increase their business profitability.”
“The
DTG 2000 enables high quality video content across both 3G
and broadband networks and is a key enabling platform for
VTM’s 3G video infotainment services.” Vice
President of Worldwide Sales & Support, Dilithium. “Both Quentris and Dilithium are pleased to be
selected by Paratel to deliver this innovative solution.”
The DTG
2000 multimedia gateway incorporates several patent pending
technologies including Dilithium's Unicoding™ technology for fast efficient
transcoding, resulting in better lip synchronization.
Additional key benefits include Video Refresh for eliminating video corruption in messaging and streaming
platforms, and MONA (Media Oriented Negotiation
Acceleration), which decreases the session setup time to
around one second, comparable to voice calls.
